2008 LCC Safari Rally
Media release. See below for supp regs and entry forms
Start
On Saturday October 18th, WA rally teams will be competing close to Perth for the final round of the WA State Rally Championship and round 5 of the WA Clubman Rally Series.
Run by the Light Car Club of WA, the Safari Rally will be staged in the forests around Mundaring Weir in the hills to the east of Perth.
The Safari will be fully pace noted with recce held the week before the rally. Actual competition will start at 11:45am on Saturday the 18th of October.
State competitors will complete 8 special stages totalling 150 competitive km through the Mundaring Forests, whilst Clubman competitors will complete 4 special stages at half the competitive distance. The last car is due to finish at around 10:45 PM meaning teams will be competing in the dark.
With the event being close to Perth, the Light Car Club is looking to extend the appeal by allowing free spectating of the rally.
Points have been set up in the forests to allow spectators to experience the sights and sounds of rally cars, tyres fighting for grip as they slide their way along the Mundaring pea gravel roads. The service park, where teams frantically work against the clock to adjust, maintain and repair rally cars is also available for spectating and gives a good close up of cars and team mechanics in action.
Please do not bring pets to the event. Animals and Motorsport do not mix.
Spectator information will be available from Rally HQ at the Chidlow Town Hall, Old Northam Rd Chidlow. The start, service park and finish will all be in and around the Chidlow Oval (opposite the town hall)
Competitors are reminded it is their responsibility to have all paperwork current and that all relevant paperwork must be produced at documentation or at any time during the event on demand by officials, organisers or relevant civil authorities such as the police. The Light Car Club is taking a zero tolerance approach to missing, incorrect or out of date paperwork for this and future rallies.
Also Alternate Reconnaissance may be available for those competitors not able to make the existing date.
Competitors who believe they have a valid reason for an Alternate reconnaissance on Friday 17th October are asked to forward a letter requesting consideration be given to the Clerk of Course. All application Letters must be received prior to the 10th of October.
Limited numbers only will be allowed for alternative recce at the discretion of the Clerk of Course
Officials are still required for the rally. If you or someone you know would like a private spectator point in the Forest, please contact: Wendy: 0427 853 644 or Danielle: 0419 953 370.
